Task 1
Norway will one day develop its own form for English: “Norlish”. We are
more and more online - Facebook, snapchat, Instagram, we are watching
international movies. I do not know about you, but I do not even notice that
most of it is not in Norwegian. The Norwegian language are on its way out. I
like the Norwegian language and all the different dialects, but we will not be
able to hold on it forever, unfortunately. We, the youth that the country soon
depends on will take over. We are more international than ever. That will affect
our language. It will not go away completely, but we will develop a new
language. All the dialects, the Norwegian language will eventually become a mix
between English and Norwegian. Most likely, we will not even notice it
happening.
For Example: we have the rally driver Petter Solberg. He has developed his
own language, a mix between Norwegian and English, and we still understand what
he say. At least Norwegians do. Like this phrase: “1.The rat was
loose”, He is a rally driver, not a person with many rats. We understand that he
were speaking of the wheel. Already there we have some Norlish, and most
countries do not understand much of his English. He has been talking like that
for years and “soon” the rest of Norway will too.
I would like to say that we are going to keep all of our dialects, but
most likely, we will not. Norway are going through a development where the
language will change. The traditions will change. The dialects will change. And
it is not much we can do about it.
