Norwegian + English = Norlish

Task 1

Norway will one day develop its own form for English: “Norlish”. We are more and more online - Facebook, snapchat, Instagram, we are watching international movies. I do not know about you, but I do not even notice that most of it is not in Norwegian. The Norwegian language are on its way out. I like the Norwegian language and all the different dialects, but we will not be able to hold on it forever, unfortunately. We, the youth that the country soon depends on will take over. We are more international than ever. That will affect our language. It will not go away completely, but we will develop a new language. All the dialects, the Norwegian language will eventually become a mix between English and Norwegian. Most likely, we will not even notice it happening.

For Example: we have the rally driver Petter Solberg. He has developed his own language, a mix between Norwegian and English, and we still understand what he say. At least Norwegians do. Like this phrase: “1.The rat was loose”, He is a rally driver, not a person with many rats. We understand that he were speaking of the wheel. Already there we have some Norlish, and most countries do not understand much of his English. He has been talking like that for years and “soon” the rest of Norway will too.

I would like to say that we are going to keep all of our dialects, but most likely, we will not. Norway are going through a development where the language will change. The traditions will change. The dialects will change. And it is not much we can do about it.

Stolen Generation

Page 317 in Stunt vg1

Checkpoints:

1. The Aborigines were the first settlers on the Australien continent, they came from the Asian mainland and the islands north of the Australien continent.

2. The reason why the Aboriginal population was halved quite soon after the European arrivel was because the Europeans brought unknown diseases,  such as small pox.
3. It is believed that more than 100 000 Aboriginal children were taken away from their homes for more than 100 years.

Viewpoints:

1. I think Mr. Howard and Mr. Keating refused to make an official apology because they were embarrased over it and did not wan't to "take the blame" for something the ones before them did.

2. The Sami people in Norway have experienced domething similar. The "Norwegians" tried to Norwegianize the Sami people.

A Passage To India

CREATIVE STUNTS

This is Abi, she works as a teacher at a private school. She is talking with the principal
on th phone, discussing a field trip for the students. This is something
Abi has been thinking a lot of lately and is finally talking to the principal about it.

CHECKPOINT

"THE NEW INDIA"
Another problem for an industrilizing country is ensuring there are enough skilled and educated workers. Education is, therefor, a key element in building the new India. It is difficult, however, to give evetyone a good schooling when so little money is invested in public education. Schools have far too few teachers and classes are poorly organized.
People with the money to spare will send their children to private schools. Another problem is that highlyeducated people will tend to take their skills out of India, choosing to take better paid jobs abroad.

"INDA-WORLD's LEADING NATION"
The vast majority (70%) of India's population still lives in rural areas. The contrast between the lives of the poor and those of India's new middle and upper classes is striking. If this gap
is to be bridged, India will have to undergo crucial social changes. The launch of India's first unmanned spacecraft in October 2008 shows that India has all it takes to be one of the world's leading nations, both techincally and economically.
