Digital Skills & Knowledge

In this text, I will consider how digital skills and education belong together. We are humans that can learn new things until the day we die, therefor are digitals skills used very much since it is very easy to learn.

My education path started with 7 years at elementary school. Then it was 3 years at secondary school. Between secondary school and high school, I got a job at “Revetal Gamle Stasjon”. Now I am a freshman at high school and after three years at high school, I am planning on a year at folk high school. I think I will travel the world after the year at folk high school before I start my studies at becoming an acute nurse, teacher at folk high school or maybe a tour guide for longer trips including tenting.

If I decide to become a nurse, teacher or guide I will need some digital skills. A nurse need to know how read of all the machines to know how the patients are and get results from tests back as fast as possible.
The teacher’s job is more and more about the technology, at least at high school. Every teacher brings the pc with them, and if the students are lucky, it will be a kahoot. If it is an assignment the students is most likely to hand it in via the internet.
A tour guide do not need so much digital skill I believe. You need to know how to use a phone, and plan tours. It is more the knowledge of how to use a map and compass that is important.

To get the skills and knowledge I need, I have to read, observe, learn and remember it all. Especially a nurse need to have a lot of knowledge, all the diseases, read of the results of tests and digital skills is very important to be sure the patient is still alive.

So tum sum it up, digital skills and education goes hand in hand. Every education there is you need knowledge and digital skills. We have come to that point where everything should be digital, very many lives of just filming their self and putting it online. It is great for them, but it shows us how far the internet has come.

Disconnect

We watched to movie "Disconnect" at school today and got 4 tasks to write about th film.
a) A brief introduction to what the film is about
b) My opinion on the film
c) Did I like the film? Why/why not
d) Which part of the movie made an impression on me

a) The film shows how people experience the new technology, were we follow 3 stories. All of them are  struggling with the internett. One get bullied, another get their identity stolen and credit cards over used and the last trying to stop child pornography.

b) It was a deep movie with lots of emotions. But it is very predictable, you'll understand immediately what is going to happen.

c) I liked the film, it was ok. Not going to watch the movie any time soon, but it is one of those movies you wach and remember them, because the contents is so important.

d) The last part of the movie made most impression on me. I could not hold the tears back, maybe because I was hoping on a happy ending,

We are all addicted!

I read 9 texts about using the internet. It was about how we spend way too much time on the internet. All the apps for the phone, we are all addicted! Even 3 year olds know how to use the internet and that is too early, when you are 3 you are supposed to be outside all day. It is not good, we need to take some time off the phone, pc and TV to be with friends and family.
Get out, enjoy the sun or snow and have fun without your phone.

Challenges for you:
-1 week without wifi on the phone
- Only use the pc for work
- Set a limit on how many hours the TV can stay on

Emigration to America

Many people emigrated from Europe to America in the late 1800s. Many wanted freedom and economic opportunities. However, cheap farmland and the industrialization helped too. The immigrants escaped from the bad times and poor conditions to a land of opportunities.

Most of the immigrants who arrived before the American Revolution had died and the immigration stopped, until 1880 when larger steam-powered ships replaced the old sailing ships, which increased the immigration. Nearly 25 million Europeans made the long trip; this was the third flood of immigrations to America.

Oscar Wilde

"I am not young enough to know everything" by Oscar Wilde

I think this quote by Oscar Wilde is important to think about every now and then. When I was younger I though everything was possible and knew everything. But it is not like that anymore.
For exaample, how many of you still believe in Father Christmas or that your father are superman?

The older you get, the less you believe in. It's sad, but unfortunatly true. You shoud try to think like a child, see all the possibilities that opens and do all the things you didn't think you could do. Then you will see the world in a better way, at least for a little while.
